Trading Tools

The essential (and mostly free) tools we recommend to every student. You do not need expensive software to trade well — you need a few good tools used consistently.

Charting

TradingView

The industry-standard charting platform — real-time charts, drawing tools, indicators and alerts for forex, crypto, stocks and PSX. The free plan is enough to start. We teach it end-to-end in our TradingView Training course.

Position Size Calculator

The single most important “tool” is knowing how big your trade should be. The formula:

Position size = (Account balance × Risk %) ÷ Stop-loss distance

  • Example: $1,000 account, 1% risk = $10 maximum loss per trade
  • If your stop-loss is 50 pips away, each pip must be worth $0.20
  • Round DOWN, never up — the rule protects you only if you follow it exactly

Our free Risk Management Basics PDF covers this in detail.

Economic Calendar

Never get caught in a news spike. Check scheduled events — central bank decisions, inflation data, employment reports — before every session.

Pakistani Markets (PSX & PMEX)

  • psx.com.pk — official Pakistan Stock Exchange site: announcements, indices, listed companies
  • dps.psx.com.pk — free official PSX data portal: live quotes and company financials
  • pmex.com.pk — Pakistan Mercantile Exchange: commodity contracts and market data

New to PSX? Start with our PSX Fundamentals course.

Journal

A simple spreadsheet beats memory. Log every trade: date, market, setup, entry, stop, target, result, and what you felt. Review weekly — your journal will show you your real edge (and your real leaks) within 30 trades.
